House of Balzac

A house of inspiration…

Acquired by the Paris commune in 1949, the Balzac house is nestled in what used to be a mere village, Passy. It was here that the author lived from 1840 to 1847, and has since been a museum dedicated to the genius who wrote the staggeringly huge sequence of plays and novels entitled La Comédie Humaine. Explore his childhood home and admire his work desk, his lodgings, and a number of his personal belongings (including paintings and a few engravings). Throughout the year this "museum" also hosts temporary exhibitions, so be sure to check out the programme.
Getting there: Metro stop: Passy / La Muette
RER C Boulainvilliers / Radio France
Bus n°32, 50, 70, 72
