Carnavalet Museum

Paris through the ages.
This imposing museum is housed in two hôtel particuliers (Hôtels Carnavalet and Le Peletier de Saint Fargeau) dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. The museum's collection offers over a hundred rooms devoted to the history of Paris, from its origins to the present day. Including archeological finds, models, paintings, sculptures, furniture, decorative objects and so on, the collection delivers a fascinating insight into the story of how cultural life in Paris has evolved over the centuries.
Alongside the permanent collections, the museum has an important collection of drawings, prints and photographs, which are kept in the Graphic Arts Cabinet, as well as a remarkable coin collection, both of which are accessible by appointment.
