Gilles Peress, exhibition: Northern Ireland (1970-1990)
This event has now finished

History in images.
The Bal presents, for the first time, as part of an exhibition, the exceptional work of Gilles Peress on the conflict in Northern Ireland.
He settled in Ireland from 1970 to 1990 and covered 20 years of conflict. His fondness for reality in all its complexity led him to observe the daily lives of the two camps through the times of mourning and celebration, but also when nothing in particular was happening.
To record the traditions and the media at work in human relationships in the fairest possible way, he lived alternately in the loyalist and republican neighbourhoods of the Short Strand or the Upper Shankill.
